Bright Data User Reviews
Bright Data offers a comprehensive range of web scraping and data collection products, from proxies to data sets and data APIs.
User Review Summary
Reviewers disagree regarding the quality of customer support. Many users praise the human technical team for their responsiveness and ability to resolve complex routing issues quickly. However, others criticize the initial AI support layer as frustrating and report that account managers can be unresponsive. Additional complaints focus on difficult onboarding processes, including rejected business documentation and technical errors during signup. While some users report stable residential proxy speeds, others allege that the assigned IPs are inaccurate or mislabeled.
Sophie AI is terrible
Sophie AI is terrible. Telling you that there's no problem, not even redirecting the request to human for quick check.
4 days I've been waiting for my issue to be resolved.
My clients are complaining.
And this is happened more than 5 times already.
The support is getting worse/terrible and the proxy downtime as well.
Have been telling their teams so many times, but nobody seems to care about it.
So you deserve this review. I'll remove it if at some point they consider their customers.
Support bot is annoying
The initial AI bot gatekeeping their ticket queue is straight-up frustrating. Bro, I don’t need an automated bot looping me around when my monitors are stalling out. But once you actually get past the automated layer to a real rep, they dialed in our Playwright routing in ten minutes. Solid residential speeds. Zero dropped tasks since.
Do not reload money with this website
Do not reload money with this website! I feel like being scammed by this website, they advertised ISP proxies as 'Both static and rotating high-speed residential IPs'. It was all fine when using the free credit until we reloaded more credit into the account. The ip just suddenly getting blocked for most of the automation. I took the ip to search and I found that it it still a data center ip. When trying to contact live chat, there is no live chat at all. But a slow and useless AI responded that 'ISP proxies are server-hosted' so I will be getting data center ip? What a misleading and nonsse is this. A refund should be provided, if you are unable to provide us with what we want (Residential IP)
Bright Data API
The first automated website unlocking tool to reach your target sites at unprecedented success rates.
Ideal Use Cases
This scraping and unblocking API automates proxy rotation and anti-bot challenges. It is accessed via a RESTful API endpoint or a proxy gateway to return clean HTML or JSON from protected websites.
Ideal Use Cases
- E-commerce & price monitoring: Bypasses retail site anti-bot protections with 98% success rate.
- Social media data: Emulates real-user behavior to reach protected public profile content.
- JavaScript-heavy sites & SPAs: Includes a browser rendering mode for client-side pages.
- Screenshots & visual monitoring: Captures PNG snapshots of rendered pages for change detection.
Poor Use Cases
- Search engine results (SERP): Documentation directs these requests to a dedicated SERP API.
- Multi-step flows & logged-in sessions: Explicitly does not support cookies for login or authentication.
- Large-scale crawling: CPM billing for successful requests may cost more than simple proxies.
- Sneaker & ticket purchasing bots: Prohibited by the platform's focus on public data scraping.

Integrating Bright Data API
Developers connect via a RESTful POST request to the API endpoint or by routing traffic through a super proxy gateway. Authentication requires either a Bearer token or zone credentials consisting of a customer ID, zone name, and password.
curl --request POST \
--url https://api.brightdata.com/request \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{
"zone": "web_unlocker1",
"url": "https://geo.brdtest.com/welcome.txt",
"format": "raw"
}'The proxy gateway uses the address brd.superproxy.io on port 44445. Authentication is handled via the proxy user string which includes the customer ID and zone name, while parameters like country or rendering are passed as username flags.
curl "http://brdtest.com/myip.json" --proxy brd.superproxy.io:44445 --proxy-user brd-customer-<customer_id>-zone-<zone_name>:<zone_password>
import requestsurl = "https://api.brightdata.com/request"headers = {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY","Content-Type": "application/json",}payload = {"zone": "web_unlocker1","url": "https://geo.brdtest.com/welcome.txt","format": "raw",}response = requests.post(url, headers=headers, json=payload)print(response.text)
Examples
Bright Data Residential
The World’s #1 Residential Proxies. Gather data from any country in the world with zero restrictions.
Ideal Use Cases
This residential proxy network routes traffic through over 400 million real peer devices across 195 countries. Users access the service via a proxy gateway to reach sites with strict anti-bot defenses.
Ideal Use Cases
- E-commerce & price monitoring: accessing regional pricing and availability on protected sites
- Ad verification: seeing ads as a real user in a specific country or city
- Brand protection & counterfeit monitoring: monitoring marketplaces with residential authenticity
- Travel & hotel pricing: accessing flight and hotel prices that vary by geographic region
Poor Use Cases
- Multi-step flows & logged-in sessions: sessions are lost if idle for more than 5 minutes
- Real-time, low-latency lookups: routing through real peer devices increases latency
- Job listings: high per-GB cost is inefficient for large volumes of static HTML
- News & content aggregation: per-GB pricing is poorly suited for high-volume collection

Scrapers connect to the host brd.superproxy.io on port 44445 using HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5. Authentication is handled by supplying a zone username and password, with optional targeting flags embedded directly into the username string.
curl "http://brdtest.com/myip.json" --proxy brd.superproxy.io:44445 --proxy-user brd-customer-<customer_id>-zone-<zone_name>:<zone_password>
